Patrick joined C3 following his stint at the Chief Strategy & Growth Officer for Atrius Health, where he also served as its Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer, and President of the Atrius Health Foundation. As CFO, Patrick led all aspects of the organization’s finances, strategic relationships, and joint ventures.
He championed the return of the medical group to profitability in 2017 and 2018, before leading a debt restructuring in 2019. He also authored an innovative seven-year payer-provider strategic collaboration with the largest commercial insurer in Massachusetts, and was the key finance executive to orchestrate the sale of Atrius Health to Optum on behalf of the Board of
Directors, where he led and managed the purchase and sale, valuation, and regulatory review process, culminating in approval from the office of the Massachusetts Attorney General.
Prior to joining Atrius Health, Patrick was a Partner at KPMG LLP in Boston in their Healthcare Advisory Services Group. Previously, he spent over four years as Founder and Managing Director of the Boston Office of Wakely Consulting, building the business anew by working with CMS, CCIIO, the Obama Administration and more than 17 states on ACA regulations and implementation, and financial strategy.
From 2006-2010, he served as the first Chief Financial Officer for the Commonwealth Health Insurance Connector Authority. This was the first government-sponsored health insurance exchange that was the model for the federal and state exchanges under the Affordable Care Act. In this position, he developed and managed the financial infrastructure for the new organization and led the development of relationships and negotiating contracts with health plans and managed care organizations to provide subsidized and commercial health insurance to eligible low-income adult residents, individuals, and small businesses of Massachusetts.
